"The arms are those used by the Portmans of Orchard Portman between the period 1611 and 1690 (Or, a fleur-de-lis azure) combined with those of Gifford (Argent ten torteaux gules). The hand in the top left corner (top right on the matrix) is the mark of a baronet. This identifies the arm as specifically those of Sir John Portman combined with those of his wife, Anne, daughter of Sir Henry Gifford of Kings Somborne, Hants. John Portman was created baronet on 25th November 1611 and died on 4th December 1612 giving a precise date range for the creation of this seal matrix"
Il a été fabriqué il y a 400 ans, et on le retrouve dans un état proche du neuf dans le sol... c'est dingue.
Et depuis le début très peu de personnes ont pu l'admirer, il ne devait pas être sorti tout mes jours et je ne pense pas que le petit peuple assistait au cachetage de Monsieur le Baron. Au mieux il servait d'apparat pour impressionner les copains aristos.
C'est un objet très personnel relié à une famille. Perso je proposerais aux descendants le plus direct de le récupérer. Et on peut penser que si il avait été trouvé quelques décennies plus tôt, son côté historique n'aurait passionné personne mais sa matière par contre si. Refonte pour lingot, et nous ne serions pas la aujourd'hui à l'admirer.
